When Love Became a Loan – A Short Story

This is a story of a woman who loved with trust, not calculation.

Her partner was 43, financially unstable, and already in debt. Still, she stood by him. On trips, she paid most of the expenses. When he needed money, she helped him. When banks refused to trust him because of his poor credit score, she trusted him.

One day, he said he wanted to buy a new phone. He used her credit card and bought an iPhone worth 1.5 lakhs. He never paid her back.

But she still waited. Not just for the money, but for respect, commitment, and courage.

When she finally asked him to talk to his family about their relationship, he spoke to them once and came back with one answer:
“My family will not agree because you are from a different community.”

That was it.

He never tried to explain how she stood by him in his hard times. He never fought for her. He never said, “This woman was there for me when no one else was.”

And now she is left with a question:

If a 43-year-old man can take help, money, and support from a woman, shouldn’t he also have the courage to stand for her?

Was it love, or was she just convenient in his difficult days?
